Local 113 offers many opportunities for members to become more involved. You can participate in the Local 113 Volunteer Organizing Committee, the Women's Caucus, African American Caucus, and LEAN. Local 113 offers VOICE training (Volunteer Organizers in Community Empowerment), an organizing curriculum that develops skills and experiences in one-on-one communication, conducting worker meetings, and public education techniques. And, we offer new member orientation that discusses the benefits of the union model, and the history of our union and its unique place in the construction industry. Local 113 Volunteer organizing Committee
Local 113's Volunteer Organizing Committee has an active committee that does many different types of activities, from the political to the charitable. The VOC meets every fourth Wednesday, with the exception of November and December, before the regular union meetings at 5:30 pm at Local 113’s Union Hall. Some of these activities include door to door election work as well as conducting food drives, health & hygiene drives, blanket drives & river clean ups in collaboration with the Milwaukee Area Labor Council.

Lean (Laborers Escaping Adversity Now)
LEAN is a peer support group group designed to help LIUNA members & their families overcome mental health issues, substance disorders and other types of adversity. Local 113 is currently working to build up a program to suit the needs of our membership. Please be on the lookout for updated information and meeting dates going into 2026.
